Crico Baker

Crico was born and raised in the wilds of Colorado to a family of artists – his Mother a fiber artist and his father a painter. So it seems he was sewing things together and painting before he could talk or crawl and still prefers it as his main form of human communication.

An adventurous life led him west to study Fine Arts at Art Center Collage of Design in Pasadena, California and then on to rebel against all he learned to a path of self taught discovery. Working in performance art, video, photography, sculpture, painting and doll making.

Crico lives with two Chihuahua friends in the high desert of rural New Mexico where he continues his journey of inquisitions into the nature of creation. The process of figuring out how something will be made being as or even more important than the final product.

His work has been shown at Tubac Center of the Arts, Tubac, Arizona; 8 oz. Fred Gallery, Denver, Colorado; Talulah Jones, Denver, Colorado; ROCKpaper Gallery, Madrid, New Mexico; and Lori Metals Gallery, Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has work in the permanent collection of the Folk Art Museum, Bangkok, Thailand; and is a collaborator of www.miningtheethers.com.
