Marc Faasse

is a photographer/artist who lives and works in Amsterdam. His interest lies between physics and social studies. In photography he found the combination of those interests which led him to improvise a special way of capturing people in their environment: using his own self-made remote-controlled camera attached to the apex of a long fishing rod, he photographs various public spaces from above, then later stitches the images together into a composite. "On the one hand I want people to think about the technique we are using to map the world, but it’s also an inquiry of how people move about in these spaces that I'm drawn to."

By taking photographs over a long period - sometimes three months - he comes to thoroughly know the place, and thus the final composite image shows his knowledge/research of the use of that particular public space. Marc Faasse, artiste/photographe vit et travaille à Amsterdam. Ses centres d’interêt vont de la physique à la sociologie. La photographie lui a permit de lier ses intérêts en improvisant une façon particulière de présenter les gens dans leur environnement. Il utilise une camera à commande à distance fixée sur un mat de sa fabrication. En prenant des photos pendant une longue période dans un meme lieu, parfois des mois, il finit par bien connaître l'endroit, et l'image composite finale montre sa « connaissance / recherche » de l'utilisation de cet espace public particulier. C'est ainsi qu'il construit - avec des images simples prises avec sa perche/caméra - une nouvelle façon de voir le monde.
