Leila Moghtader

was born into an art loving family, her father Reza Moghtader studied Architecture in Paris and her mother Golrokh Bozorgmehr was the owner and artistic director of the Litho Gallery in Tehran which hosted 50 exhibitions during its existence.

In 1980 Leila Moghtader moved to Paris with her family to finish her studies. She obtained her Baccalauréat in 1986 , followed by an English literature degree at the Sorbonne in 1990 before attending a photographic school .

She worked in several professional photographic labs such as DUPON, where she had the opportunity to discover the works, meet and work with prestigious European photographers. Since 1999, Leila has been working in the communication and photographic department of the French tv group Canal+ where she is in charge of organizing photo shoots of the programs and celebrities, editing and participating in pre & post-production for media publications.

During this time, she never stopped taking pictures, always carrying her cameras with her. She participated in one solo and several group exhibitions in Paris and a solo exhibition in Golestan Gallery in Tehran.

She was much influenced in her photography by the pureness, perfect framing and composition of her father’s pictures (which were last exposed in Paris in an exhibition she organized in 2002) and her mother’s poetry & sensibility.

Leila est née en Iran dans une famille d’artiste, d’un père architecte et photographe et d’une mère comédienne et galeriste. Elle s’installe à Paris en 1980 où après son baccalauréat et des études de langues à la Sorbonne, elle étudie la photographie. Elle commence sa carrière professionnelle dans des laboratoires comme Dupon où elle apprend le développement et le tirage argentique, puis le numérique. Elle a l’opportunité de rencontrer et travailler avec de prestigieux photographes et de collaborer à la numérisation des fonds photo de la MEP. Elle travaille depuis 1999 au service photo au sein de la direction de la communication du groupe Canal+ où elle est responsable photo pour les fictions et créations originales de la chaîne (Braquo, Borgia, Engrenages, etc.…). Elle a également participé à plusieurs expositions de groupe et une exposition solo à Paris et à Téhéran. Dans son choix photographique elle a été influence par la pureté et la composition du travail de son père et de la sensibilité de sa mère.
